About 66 Raw - History

Here at 66Raw.com we are striving to be the countries one and only premiere destination for the hottest uncut & unbiased hip hop which showcases the biggest names, exclusive music heard first & the hottest up and coming/breaking acts. A pure hip hop platform that caters to fans in every aspect of the culture. It is a lifestyle entity, not just music.

66Raw.com specializes in the culture of Hip Hop which includes lifestyle, trends, fashion and everyday living. Hip Hop from its inception to what it is now has a wide span of active enthusiasts which range widely from college educated professionals whom are married with families, own their own businesses all the way to the younger generation straight out of high school.

There is a big misconception of what the culture of Hip Hop represents in today's world. Hip Hop has been around now for more than 25 years and those young kids that started the entire movement are now grown adults who have families and careers. However, their love for Hip Hop never ceased and they are just as active as they were during their adolescent years.

Hip Hop is very unique in every sense, parents now listen to the same music as their kids, many decades ago there was a very big disconnect in the type of music parents and kids would listen to. Many of the today's websites and media aspects mainly focus on one part of Hip Hop which tends to be strictly the entertainment part, however, in addition, 66Raw.com targets the actual lifestyle and everyday routine of our audiences which can range widely.

66 RAW was the first nationally broadcasted uncensored & uncut Hip Hop Radio Channel on XM Satellite Radio started with Mz. Kitti and The General Leo G. Both were On Air Talent as well as Music and Program Director for the Urban Channel such as the Old School and Main Stream channels. Mz. Kitti's and Leo G.'s involvement within Satellite radio is undisputed and grew a fanbase of over 500,000 listeners which actually subscribed to XM to listen to 66 RAW.

However, during the the acquistion of XM Satellite by Sirius Satellite Radio the programming was changed and Sirius replaced all of the original XM programming with their own. Shade 45 owned by Eminem receive the channel 66 which was owned by 66 Raw for about 7 years in which they hoped to migrate the 66 RAW fanbase to Shade 45.

66 RAW listeners were livid and presented a petition with over 50,000 signatures to have it reinstated, unfortunately this wasn't reversed but it was only to begin a new journey where 66 RAW is now globally available and not just nationally. 66raw.com was born and it is now better as it has now restrictions by a corporate entitiy and it is entirely fan driven.

66raw.com is an online radio station that broadcasts over all mobile platforms via apps and online capabilties including an online portal and social network dedicated to Hip Hop and entertainment. The company is young but we are continuously growing!
